I did some trail and off road motorcycling this summer. With me on a 2013 R1200 BMWGSLC with luggage I was probably close to a thousand pounds. I looked at some of the guys on the dirt bikes and I have been wondering if I should get one a little bit lighter and nimble for off roading with some mild road riding to get from trail to trail. There are so many different options out today. The Yamaha Tenere 700 has been getting some killer reviews. The standard seems to be Honda though. Specifically the Honda 450 CRF types. They are lightweight and easier to get through the trails with. I am looking forward to next spring to try a few other options out. I want to stay with ones that are able to be taken on road as well for convenience sake. I plan on doing some more desk research over the winter to see what the best options to try out next spring will be. (maybe a dirt bike with a automatic transmission like the Honda Africa Twin???) We will have to see what the year brings.
