I took my BMW down to BMW Motorcycles of Omaha on 8-4. I arrived at opening time. No appointment. I told them I was getting ready to take a trip and was worried about the rear axle growling. They took my bike right in. The growling in the rear axle turned out to be normal gear lash. Whew. I had them do a service on the bike while I was down there. Real great customer service. I appreciated them taking the time to take care of my motorcycle on such short notice. Sturgis is usually about a 1500-2000 mile week. Great to have the peace of mind.
My riding buddy, who I have gone to Sturgis many times with before, rides an Indian. He told me he didn’t think his front tire on his bike would make the whole trip, so he wanted to get a new one on. We are taking off on 8-8-20. He has bought two new Indian motorcycles from his local Indian dealer. He checked with them at the end of July and told them he was going on a trip on 8-8-20. He just wanted a front tire put on. They told him they could get him in on 8-24 for a new tire. He reiterated he was going on a trip on 8-8. They said, “sorry 8-24 is the first time we can get you in”. He was not impressed with his dealership. I told him to call Vern Eide Motoplex here in Sioux Falls, SD and just see if they could do anything. He called them on 8-5. He asked them if there was any chance to get a front tire on his Indian. He told them he was traveling through on the way to Sturgis and would be in Sioux Falls on the 8th. They said no problem we will put a new tire on when you get here. It is great to be in a part of the country which still has great people, who work in great businesses, which have great customer service. I have met the owner of Motoplex, Bruce Eide. He is a great guy. He also owns Indian Motorcycles of Sturgis. I can see why Sturgis is the number one selling dealership. I know the customer service is consistent throughout. I have not purchased an Indian Motorcycle yet, but I know where I am purchasing one when I do. My buddy was impressed. Looks like we are all set to head out.
I put a new set of tires on my bike as well. I called up Top Notch Motorsports in Sioux Falls on Wednesday and asked if he would have time to put them on for me. He said bring them in and he would get them done on Thursday. ( I take the tires off my bike myself and bring them in on the rim.) Here are the before and packed out and ready to go pictures.

All packed and ready to go. Life is great!
